A bright member from the French Tulips range is the red Tulip Avignon. Blooming in early May with a height almost up to your hip, you will notice that the large goblet shaped flower shows lovely colours as tomato red, a sweet pink flame and an apricot edge. Tulip Avignon is lovely to combine with other French Tulips and great for cutting. Named in 1966 after the Southern French city of Avignon where the pope had his palace in the Middle Ages and also famous for its ruined bridge. Sur le Pont d'Avignon, On y danse, On y danse.
